We’ve compiled a list of the best holiday events going on in Chicago this year to help you decide what to do and where to go!

Magnificent Mile Lights Festival

One of the biggest and brightest events Chicago offers this holiday season is the BMO Harris Bank Magnificent Mile Lights Festival, starting at 11am on Saturday, November 18th.

Located just three minutes away from our hotel, there’s no reason to miss any of it! Stop at any of these booths on Pioneer Court, aka “Lights Festival Lane” for family fun activities and complimentary gifts:

The Tree-Lighting Parade runs from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm on North Michigan Avenue, starting at Oak Street. Marshalled by Mickey and Minnie Mouse, this televised event is the highlight of the festival.

The parade features marching bands and dancers from all over the country, as well as helium filled balloons and over one million lights along Michigan Avenue! The night concludes with a fireworks spectacular over the Chicago River.

Thanksgiving Day Parade

Experience the annual televised parade in person this Thanksgiving! Giant helium filled balloons, floats, and marching bands travel along State Street in honor of Thanksgiving.

Christmas Market

Christkindlmarket is an open-air European holiday market on Daley Plaza featuring traditional art, handmade gifts, German food, choirs, and carolers. (November 17th-December 24th).


See colorful tree lights and interactive laser lights on a one mile walk and warm up at the fire pit at the Morton Arboretum. (November 17th-January 1st).

A Christmas Carol

Charles Dickens’s classic holiday play runs from November 18th-December 31st at the Goodman Theatre, less than ten minutes away from our hotel!

Wonderland Express

Holiday trains run through an indoor garden and past miniature buildings at Chicago’s Botanic Garden. (November 24th-January 7th).

Holiday Caroling

Siamsa na nGael: Celtic Celebration

  • Where: Symphony Center at 220 S. Michigan Ave.
  • Together, The Metropolis Symphony Orchestra and Trinity Irish Dancers perform song and dance, telling the story of John Hume and the Good Friday Peace Accord
